
IMPROVING THE OPERATIVENESS OF THE COMMERCIAL QUAYS. PHASE 1.
With this action it will get more meters of berthing line with a greater depth than the existing one, so it can serve ships of larger size with the savings in transport costs that this entails, resulting in a significant improvement in competitiveness for users of the port of Vigo.
To that end, we propose the advancement of the berthing lines for the creation of new docks replacing the existing ones that are in poor condition, besides achieving with that action an improvement in the draughts of the docks and a significant increase in the total length of berthing, along with gaining an service area attached to the new docks that will allow to reorganize the traffics inside the port.
The new docks will have the following characteristics:
1st. alignment Arenal: 290 m. length and 14 m. depth.
Transversal East: 225 m. length and 14 m. depth.
Transversal North: 170 m. length and 15.5 m. depth.
Transversal West: Increase of 68 m. length and 9 m. depth.
Therefore, with the new layout will reach a
total of 685 meters of berth line, with a
depth greater than or equal to 14 meters and an area attached to the docks of about
49.190 sqm.On the other hand, it pretends to dredge the inner harbor to get also the 14 meters depth, which means, considering the existing bathymetry, dredging of approximately 150,000 m3 of material.
